Baptisms
Baptisms are normally
celebrated during Worship on a Sunday morning. This important Sacrament is our
entrance into the Christian Church and so the whole community gathers around
those who either desire to be baptized or to have their children baptized.
Parents and sponsors promise to raise the child in the faith and the whole
congregation helps them do this by providing for Worship and Christian
Education.
A period of counseling and
preparation is required before any Baptism in order to ensure that the parents
and sponsors understand the responsibilities and the promises of the Sacrament.
Please call the Senior Pastor to arrange for any Baptism and be sure to plan
enough time to meet with him or her before the event.
The Church baptizes only in
the Trinitarian Name as Jesus instructed, “Go therefore and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew
28:19-20)
A baptismal form (attached)
must be completed and returned to the office prior to the baptism for our
records
